In the framework of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, LEONI carried out a series of activities at its plants in Yucatán, Hermosillo, and Durango, aiming to promote the overall wellbeing of its employees and reinforce a culture of prevention within the organization.
In Mérida, the initiatives focused on preventive health services, where employees had access to vaccinations against tetanus, rubella, measles, and hepatitis B, as well as body measurements, oral hygiene services, blood sugar level screenings, and distribution of contraceptives. Additionally, informative activities were conducted to strengthen key knowledge about health care both inside and outside the workplace.
Meanwhile, at the Hermosillo and Durango plants, engaging and educational activities centered on safety and health topics were developed. In Hermosillo, the activity “100 Leonistas Said” stood out, encouraging employee participation through teamwork and reinforcing key concepts.
In Durango, a broader program was implemented with five interactive stations. These included activities such as target shooting focused on the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), the electronic game “Stop” with a safety and health theme, and a Jenga-style activity incorporating safety questions to advance in the game. There was also participation from an external provider who delivered talks on the proper use of PPE specific to each job role.
Additionally, in Yucatán, both plants were supported by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), which offered services such as vaccinations, HIV testing, nutritional guidance, and distribution of contraceptive methods, bringing health resources directly to employees.
Regarding these activities, Eva Madrid, HSEE Team Leader in Durango, highlighted: “We aim to raise awareness in a dynamic way, where employees not only receive information but experience and apply it. Participation at each station was key to reinforcing daily safety and health practices.”
As an incentive, a reward system was implemented during the event, allowing participants to win various items by completing activities, encouraging greater interaction and engagement.
Through initiatives like these, LEONI raises awareness, prevents risks, and promotes comprehensive care, reaffirming its commitment to the safety, health, and wellbeing of its employees.
