On Saturday, June 20th, LEONI employees from Mérida 1 and Mérida 2 plants, led by the Yucatán Safety, Health Environment and Energy team, participated in a beach cleanup campaign at Santa Clara Beach, joining the “Somos la Ola por Yucatán” local initiative. The purpose of this activity was to contribute to environmental protection and promote the conservation of one of the state's most important natural areas.
During the event, more than 70 participants joined forces to collect waste and debris that negatively impact the coastal ecosystem. Thanks to the commitment and teamwork of the volunteers, a significant amount of waste was removed, helping to keep the beaches cleaner and raising awareness about the importance of preserving our natural resources.
In addition to the environmental effort, the activity was marked by a special moment when members of the team managed to rescue a dog that was in danger and close to drowning. The participants’ quick response and solidarity made it possible to bring the animal to safety, making this one of the most emotional moments of the day.
Through actions like this, LEONI reaffirms its commitment to the community and to environmental stewardship, promoting values such as responsibility, solidarity, and teamwork among its employees. Participation in initiatives like “Somos la Ola por Yucatán” demonstrates that when people come together for a common cause, it is possible to create a positive impact on both the environment and society.
