My story at LEONI
Fresh out of college with a degree in Industrial Engineering, I began searching for my first professional opportunity, during a job fair in Mérida, I discovered LEONI, which was recruiting operational staff; I submitted my résumé, and shortly after, I was informed that I would need to travel to Durango for training. Although I felt nervous about leaving Yucatán for the first time and facing something completely new, I decided to take the challenge. My mother supported me wholeheartedly, and though my father was initially hesitant, both ultimately trusted my decision.
I officially joined LEONI on March 21, 2017, and spent two months in Durango for training. The experience was transformative, I met people from different backgrounds, adapted to a new climate, and learned to be more independent. When I returned to Mérida, I began working as part of the operational staff at Plant 1, determined to continue growing within the company.
Through dedication and effort, I advanced from operator to spokesperson, and eventually joined the engineering department, where I currently work. Today, after eight years at LEONI, I feel proud and grateful for the opportunities that have allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
This is my job
A typical day at work starts at 7:30 a.m. Upon arrival, I check my emails and plan my daily activities. I am responsible for designing harnesses, interpreting client-approved drawings and creating them in programs such as Layman or AutoCAD. I also collaborate with my team, prioritize urgent tasks that arise, and strive to stay organized. At the end of the day, I ensure everything is in order and prepare a list of tasks for the following day.
My highlight
One of the most significant moments in my career was my promotion from operational staff to engineer. Another very special moment was being recognized as a LEONI Woman of Value, an acknowledgment that made me feel truly appreciated, as it reflected the effort and responsibility I put into my work every day.
My view of LEONI as an employer
In my opinion, LEONI provides legal benefits, flexible working hours, and support with meals and transportation, which is a great help for all employees, as not every company offers these services.
My tips
It is important to take advantage of every opportunity to improve and learn, maintaining a proactive attitude and collaborating effectively with the team. Being responsible and punctual, meeting deadlines, and focusing on product quality and workplace safety are key priorities in any company. Continuous improvement systems are also implemented. Even if you start as operational staff, as I did, showing commitment opens the door to advancement and growth within the organization.
